Dallan has developed a new type of foam-filled aluminium roller shutter with much larger slots than usual. The initial idea was to produce a shutter that lets a lot of light pass through, as certain types with extruded profiles do: the result is a product with a truly innovative design manufactured by means of a single coil-to -window production system.
The height of the shutter slat can be anywhere between 40 and 55 millimetres and the slat itself features a very tall hook and very wide slots that can be up to 6 millimetres in height (the model in the photos has a 50mm profile with 6mm slots). The slots may be aligned or staggered, according to the size of the window; it is also possible to alternate large and small slots and distribute them as desired over the entire span.
With the Dallan numerically controlled punching system it is easy to programme and make the slots to a precision of 0.5mm for a length of 5.6 metres (the typical length of the bars). The installed shutter is extremely original and attractive both from the outside and the inside. When semi-raised it allows much more light to pass than a normal shutter, also providing excellent ventilation and privacy in that you can see out without being seen. When completely shut, blackout is total.
The duly punched curtains can be produced at a speed of up to 22 metres a minute and the system as a whole can deliver (if the curtains are made directly) one fully shuttered window with all slats inserted approximately every 2 minutes. In fact Dallan is a byword for innovative design and technological state of the art, not only in developing machines but also in developing new products in the sun protection sector – a field in which Dallan has more than thirty years experience with its machines for roller shutters, Venetian blinds and shutter boxes.
