DALLAN Full Electric 120, fully electric roll forming machine for thin profiles

WORKING TO THE SAME LEAN PHILOSOPHY SINCE ITS FOUNDATION, DALLAN PRESENTS ITS FIRST FULLY ELECTRIC ROLL FORMING MACHINE, DEDICATED TO THIN-GAUGE PROFILES

Since 1978, Dallan has developed systems that integrate decoiling, punching, cutting and roll forming in a continuous process. The integrated line is less than 11 metres long, compared with 16 metres for the standard configuration used by the company as a reference, and processes sheet starting from 0.15 mm thick. The new Full Electric is the company’s first fully electric roll forming machine and is designed for profiles up to 2 mm thick.

The version presented at EuroBLECH 2026 processes profiles up to 0.8 mm thick at speeds of up to 120 metres per minute. According to the company, this configuration reduces electricity consumption by 34%, equivalent to approximately 55,600 kWh per year, compared with an equivalent hydraulic system.

Electric actuators and predictive maintenance

The project was driven by the need for a compact, high-performing, sustainable and clean electric machine: in place of hydraulic cylinders, the work is done by servo-controlled electric actuators managed by a fully digital architecture, a choice rooted in fourteen years of Full Electric technology that began with punching machines built since 2012 with actuators capable of forces up to 60 metric tons.

The benefits are clear on the production floor: hydraulic oil disappears, along with periodic oil changes, the risk of leaks and hundreds of litres to dispose of every year, so the machine stays clean, runs more quietly and keeps maintenance to a minimum. The patented actuators do not just move the tools, they measure the force applied, comparing these values against standards to monitor die wear inline and enable predictive maintenance, with fewer unplanned stops and consistent profile quality over time.

Compact footprint and automated packaging

The footprint changes as well: the twelve-station roll forming system, the cutting unit, the safety cabin and the electrical cabinet are integrated into a single base less than 11 metres long, where seven separate elements were once needed and today a single monoblock is lifted and repositioned.

The line is managed by the Touch software on a Siemens architecture, controlling the production process, work cycles and transmission of job lists directly from the office; the A10 automatic system can also be integrated to package C and U profiles at up to 120 m/min, handling on-demand production of cut-to-length profiles and pyramid packs. In a three-shift configuration with automatic packaging and a single operator per shift, Dallan’s line can produce up to 20,000,000 metres of profile a year.
